Andrew Carston has enjoyed an excellent season with the precocious What Choux Want and he was in the market for another Jimmy Choux filly at the Select Sale.

The Riccarton trainer fulfilled his Karaka aim on Thursday when he secured a daughter of the former New Zealand Horse of the Year for $75,000 out of Rich Hill Stud's consignment.

A half-sister to the Group performer Simbah, she is out of the Mellifont mare Belle Joie who is a half-sister to the champion sprinter and multiple Group One winner Mufhasa.

With Australian bloodstock agent Gary Mudgway, Carston also signed for a Swiss Ace filly for $25,000 out of Westbury Stud's draft. She is out of Upgrading, a daughter of Encosta de Lago and the Group Two-winning mare Ferragamo.

Meanwhile, Carston has yet to decide if What Choux Want will have another start in the North Island before returning home.

He is tossing up whether to start her in the Gr.2 J Swap Contractors Matamata Breeders' Stakes on February 27.

"There's also a Listed race at Riccarton in May that I think she can win, but she needs a break at some stage," Carston said.

"She's done a great job for us and it's about doing what's best for the filly."

What Choux Want was a winner and was stakes placed at Riccarton before she ventured north to finish a luckless third in the Countdown to Karaka Million 1200 and a solid fifth in the Listed Karaka Million at Ellerslie. – NZ Racing Desk.
