Cambria Park were in high spirits after a memorable Select Sale debut on Wednesday.

The Pukekohe vendors made an early impact when Lot 449 was sold to expatriate New Zealand trainer Paul O'Sullivan for $200,000.

"That's very pleasing, a great result for us," Fraser Jones said. "This is our third year selling at Karaka and our first time in Select.

"I've always worked with horses and started at Newbury Park in Palmerston North and later on I went overseas and worked for Coolmore in Ireland and Australia before I came home."

The colt, who was bred by Judge John Clapham, is out of the unraced El Moxie mare Paris Diamond with the headline act in her pedigree the Gr.1 Melbourne Cup winner Prince Of Penzance.

"He was a very busy horse and spent quite a bit of time out of his box, but he still sold above expectations," Jones said.

Cambria Park's previous best result at Karaka had also been with a Tavistock youngster they sold for $58,000 to Lyndhurst Farm at last year's National Weanling Sale.

"He was sold on Monday and made $200,000," Jones said.

The Hong Kong-based O'Sullivan added the Cambria Park colt to two earlier Premier Sale purchases on Monday.

He went to $340,000 to secure a Teofilo youngster from Wentwood Grange's draft and also bought Pencarrow Stud's son of O'Reilly and the former champion two-year-old and Gr.1 Diamond Stakes winner Banchee for $330,000. – NZ Racing Desk.
