Wentwood Grange got far more than they bargained during the early stages of the Premier session at Karaka.

The Cambridge nursery presented Lot 5 and the colt by Teofilo, a sire they are well-acquainted with, walked out with a $340,000 price tag on his head.

"We had an $80,000 reserve on him so the result is absolutely huge for us," Dean Hawkins said.

"He's out of a mare we raced ourselves and we sent her to Teofilo off the back of Kermadec, who we sold to Chris Waller.

A $260,000 yearling in 2013, Kermadec is the dual Group One winner of the Doncaster Handicap and the George Main Stakes.

Their latest sale ring success by Teofilo is out of the stakes-performed Perfectly Ready mare Perfect Katch.

He was knocked down to expatriate New Zealand trainer Paul O'Sullivan, who fought off the Irish-based bloodstock agent Hubie de Burgh to secure the colt.

"They had both been to see him four or five times and it was very pleasing to have two such astute buyers after him," Hawkins said.

Wentwood Grange didn't have long to wait to celebrate another notable sale when their son of Savabeel and a brother to the Group performer Savanah Rush realised $240,000.

"He is a lovely walking colt and to was great to get him sold to Mick Price," Hawkins said. - NZ Racing Desk.
