A unique individual will command centre stage deep into the final session of the Premier Sale on Tuesday.
The international spotlight will be on the last colt from Pencarrow Stud's K1 consignment when Lot 445 brings a mix of Group One blood from both hemispheres to the ring.
The son of the champion European galloper Frankel will be present a challenge to any prospective buyer at Karaka with the blue-blooded youngster sure to attract widespread attention.
Out of the Zabeel mare Our Echezeaux, he is a half-brother to the Gr.2 Travis Stakes winner Dolmabache and the ill-fated Gr.3 Gold Trail Stakes winner Pure Elegance.
The colt hails from a family that is stacked with Australasian Group One winners, including Grand Echezeaux and her sons Darci Brahma and Burgundy and the mighty mare Ethereal.
Breeder Sir Peter Vela sent two mares to the great Frankel in 2013 to be served to southern hemisphere time with Our Echezeaux the only one of the pair to get in foal.
"Sir Peter had seen Frankel run in Europe and he thought he was the best horse that he had ever seen," Pencarrow Stud manager Leon Casey said.
"We're really just looking for the next really good outcross for the family and Frankel's in his own category as a racehorse."
The son of Galileo was undefeated in 14 starts, including 10 at Group One level for the late Sir Henry Cecil.
"It was a big undertaking and there were quite a few quarantine restrictions – they've since changed. It's a bit easier now, but at the time it was quite a bit to work with, but the mare got in foal first pop," Casey said.
The colt was foaled in August last year and he's understandably created huge interest since.
"He's a classic type of horse, he's a lovely walker and he's probably everything you hope for when you send a mare all the way to England to breed a foal," Casey said. – NZ Racing Desk.
