Girl Of My Dreams has done all she can to earn a return to Group One racing.
The talented five-year-old has fulfilled her part of the bargain with her latest victory and her Thorndon Mile prospects now rest with the handicapper.
A Group Three winner as a juvenile and fourth in the Gr.1 Diamond Stakes when prepared by Leo Molloy, Girl Of My Dreams pressed her feature race claims with further success at Awapuni on Saturday for current trainer Nigel Tiley.
"The owners are keen to have a go at the Thorndon and she deserves it, but I'm not sure if she'll get a run at this stage," he said.
"She's a mare in form and she'll only improve with that last run, she was pretty dominant. She's tough by nature and she's looking fantastic.
"I don't want to run her in the Anniversary though, that would mean she would have to run three weeks in a row.
"If she doesn't make the Thorndon she'll still go down to Trentham for the Douro Cup."
A winner up to a mile, the free-going Girl Of My Dreams has been placed over a middle distance and Tiley has a future target in mind over more ground.
"I'm happy to run her over 2000 metres, but there's nothing around for her just yet," he said.
"The Taranaki Cup (on February 20) over 1800 metres will be a nice race for her and she'd be hard to catch around New Plymouth."
Stablemate The Justice League, who came to grief on Boxing Day, is tentatively booked to reappear in a 1400 metre event at Ellerslie on February 4.
"We couldn't work him for a week after he copped some grass burns on his wither, but he's coming right," Tiley said.
"That was a tragedy and he's been a horse that has just had absolutely no luck at all." – NZ Racing Desk.
