Pukekohe trainer Richard Collett is bullish about three-year-old filly Tiger Silk’s chances heading into the Listed Mufhasa Fasttrack Stakes (1300m) at Ellerslie on Saturday.
The daughter of All American has pleased her trainer in her last two starts, after disappointing when tailing the field home in the Listed Uncle Remus Stakes (1400m) at Ellerslie on Boxing Day, and he believes she can take that form into Saturday.
“She’s in really good order,” Collett said. “I was really happy with her run last start (over 1200m at Ellerslie) and she won well the start before that, (over 1400m) here at Counties.
“We ran her again at Ellerslie the other day and brought her back from 1400 to 1200m, just because she was given a long time between races.”
Tiger Silk ran on to finish sixth, but Collett was happy with the run considering she only found clear air late in the piece.
“She just never saw daylight, it was a good effort,” he said. “She probably would have run second if she got clear earlier over 1200m.
“1300m on Saturday in Listed company, drawn five, I’m looking forward to it.”
