Reigning Hong Kong Horse of the Year, Beauty Generation (NZ) (Road To Rock) gave his rivals
another galloping lesson at Sha Tin on Sunday when he strolled away in the home straight to capture his sixth Group One title in the Gr.1 Queen’s Silver Jubilee Cup (1400m).
It was the New Zealand-bred geldings eighth win in successionand 16th of his 29-start career to date.
Sent straight to the front by rider Zac Purton, Beauty Generation kept up a strong clip throughout
the 1400m journey, a distance that some thought might see the son of Road To Rock vulnerable at.
Beauty Generation and Purton never gave their rivals any hope of an upset as they shot clear on the home corner before easing down over the final 100m to complete a comprehensive one and three-quarter length victory from Beat The Clock (Hinchinbrook) and Conte (Starcraft).
Trainer John Moore was quick to praise his charge’s kiwi connection and background when asked to describe his feelings after the race.
“This horse is just, stating a fact, in such good form at the moment.” Moore said.
“Being a New Zealander, I have to give them a big plus as they are tough buggers coming over from
New Zealand.
“I thought coming into today he was a little bit on the flat side, but we had had no hiccups leading
into the race whatsoever and everything has gone exactly to plan.
“The only thing we were doing differently was working over a little less ground to freshen him up.”
Moore was confident of victory a long way from home in the contest as he watched Purton click
Beauty Generation through his gears.
“He increased the tempo at the 600m and said, ‘now chase me boys’,” he said.
“One reminder around the backside and boy he hit the line and pulled up great.
“I plan to trial him over 1000m and then trial him over a mile and that should have him cherry ripe
for the Champions Mile.”
Moore, who has credited Beauty Generation with reinvigorating his training career, will now set his
stable flag-bearer for the Gr.1 FWD Champions Mile on April 28.
Bred at Greg Tomlinson’s Nearco Stud, Beauty Generation is a graduate of the 2014 New Zealand
Bloodstock Yearling Sale series.
Beat The Clock is a graduate from the 2015 New Zealand Bloodstock Ready To Run Sale having been
sold out of the Prima Park draft for $200,000.
