Snap Fit made a winning start to his career in Hong Kong on Wednesday in the Class 4 Mong Kok Handicap (1000m), but the four-year-old’s presence on the track owes a lot to Paul Robinson, the Hong Kong Jockey Club’s Head of Veterinary Clinical Services, and his team.
“He was a nice horse and was doing well, and then he started to sound a bit raspy in the morning so we scoped him and he had a throat problem. Paul Robinson did the surgery and it’s all credit to him,” trainer Caspar Fownes explained.
The Nadeem four-year-old responded willingly to jockey Zac Purton as he held Gracious Ryder by a neck.
“It was a good effort, Fownes continued. “It’s hard to bring these horses back after throat surgery, the stats aren’t with us but I’m happy to get that result – nice owner, nice horse and good job by Paul and his team.” -HKJC
