Andrew Forsman couldn’t be any happier with Love Affair ahead of her tilt at the Gr.2 Rich Hill Mile at Ellerslie on New Year’s Day.
“I’m very happy with her,” said Forsman, who trains in partnership with Murray Baker. “Her last two gallops have been spot-on. I think she is perfect going into the race.”
Although pleased with the Savabeel mare, Forsman does hold concerns about jumping from barrier 13 with a high weight on her back.
“She’s carrying 57kg and is going to be giving some pretty classy horses a decent swing in the weights, which is not ideal,” he said.
“We’ll just have to deal with the cards that we have drawn. From a bad barrier she will probably have to go back a little bit, but that’s going to be more for Opie (Bosson, jockey) to figure out.
“I’m very happy with the horse and if she gets any sort of luck in the run she is going to be competitive.”
