Three-year-old filly Embrace Me showed a ready turn of foot to come from last when winning the $99 Summer Membership Handicap (1200m) at Moonee Valley in the hands of Damien Oliver.
Prepared at Flemington by Danny O’Brien, the daughter of Windsor Park Stud stallion Shamexpress was recording her third career victory from seven starts.
“It’s good to see Danny’s team firing again,” Oliver said. “He is building them up well and I think he’s held the right horses back for the summer months.
“We know each other pretty well - since we were young fellas - so we’ve got a good understanding of one another.
“This filly really showed a liking to this track and trip and the blinkers have made all the difference to her. She is in great form.”
Embrace Me has now won her last two starts, both at Moonee Valley and both over 1200m.
“She’s a filly that if she settles nicely she has got a lovely finish on her,” said O’Brien’s assistant trainer Ben Gleeson.
“It has been really key that she is happy and kept in a rhythm as she’s got a good finish.
“In between each race she has improved at home and her attitude Is so relaxed now and she is happy to be a racehorse.
“There is more to come with her,” he said. – NZ Racing Desk
