The Michael Moroney and Pam Gerard-trained Pinmedown broke through for her maiden victory in the Robyn Mactaggart Cup (1400m) at Hastings on Wednesday.

Jockey Cameron Lammas settled the three-year-old filly off the pace after jumping from the outside barrier of the seven horse field.

The daughter of Pins ran on well late in the piece to rundown her opposition and win by half-a-length over Monkey Shoulder.

“She’s still got to learn a bit more to stay, because she was a bit keen early, but I’ve liked her since she was a two-year-old when I rode her in her first start,” Lammas said.

“She’s got bigger and stronger and had a nice, easy win today.”

Gerard was pleased with the win and believes Pinmedown has the potential to be competitive in classic races later this season.

“She could be an Oaks filly,” she said. “She can still get a bit hot and has to work it out mentally, but we’ll just place her in some races for three-year-old fillies over Christmas and I think she can pick up something.”
