Te Aroha trainer Peter Lock was impressed with Hiflyer’s runner-up performance in Saturday’s Gr.1 Tarzino Trophy (1400m) behind Melody Belle and believes the six-year-old will benefit from the added distance in the Gr.1 Windsor Park Plate (1600m) on the second day of the carnival.
“I’m over the moon (with his run),” Lock said. I wish there were a couple of more strides, it might have been something different.
“I’m very excited and very happy and I am looking forward to three weeks’ time.”
The Tavistock gelding is now a $7 second-favourite on the TAB’s futures market for the Windsor Park Plate, behind multiple stakes winner Scott Base ($6), while Melody Belle has shortened to an $8 third-favourite after Saturday’s win.
