Stakes-placed four-year-old mare Swing Note kicked-off her spring campaign in style at Ashburton on Friday, making light work of her rivals in the Barneswood Farm Stakes Day 20th October (1400m).
The Jamie Richards-trained runner jumped away well from her outside barrier, settling at the tail of the field for apprentice jockey Nik Bakar.
The pair improved three-wide at the turn of the straight before Bakar pulled Swing Note towards the outside of the track where she showed a good turn of foot to comfortably win by four lengths.
“She’s going to develop into a staying mare,” stable representative Paul Richards said. “She just got back and got home, which you like to see.
“She placed in a couple of fillies races last year, so she’s above average.”
