Trainer Mark Newnham has plenty of confidence in Lanciato heading into the Gr.2 Tramway Stakes (1400m) at Randwick on Saturday.
The stakes-winning Per Incanto six-year-old finished fourth in his last-start in the Gr.2 Missile Stakes (1200m) and his trainer expects the gelding to run well in his final hit-out before the Gr.1 Epsom Handicap (1600m) at Randwick on September 29.
"Lanciato is terrific. Everything is going to plan," Newnham said. “He loves Randwick, so I will be disappointed if he is not in the first three on Saturday.
"He likes to race fresh, so the four weeks (in-between the Tramway and Epsom Handicap) is ideal."
Lanciato was bred by Little Avondale Stud in partnership with Lib Petagna, under his JML Bloodstock banner, and went on to win two races in New Zealand before joining Newnham’s Randwick barn.
