Newcastle trainer Kris Lees looks to have a promising filly on his hands after Savabeel three-year-old Grand Bouquet broke her maiden status over 1300m at Hawkesbury on Thursday.
Having her second start and first run back from a spell following a fourth on debut
at Wyong in March, Grand Bouquet was allowed to settle at the rear from a wide draw by Glyn Schofield and steamed home down the outside to score a narrow but impressive victory.
The filly is a daughter of triple Group One winner Daffodil and is a half-sister to the stakes-placed Snowdrop.
She is raced by the China Horse Club who purchased her out of the Waikato Stud draft for $600,000 during the Premier session of the 2017 National Yearling Sale at Karaka.
