Leading Sydney trainer Chris Waller is hopeful he can get New Zealand-bred gelding Liapari back to his winning ways in the Premier’s Cup (1900m) at Rosehill on Saturday.
The Nom du Jeu six-year-old won the Listed Civic Stakes (1350m) three starts ago, but has been unplaced in his subsequent two starts.
“He’s done a pretty good job this prep, winning a Listed race,” Waller said. “I think he’ll appreciate stepping up to the 1900m, albeit right at the edge of his distance range.
“There is some talk that we might get a bit of rain on the weekend, that will play to his benefit and he’s got a good draw.”
Liapari was formerly trained in New Zealand by Karen Zimmerman and won one of his nine starts in his homeland before transferring to Waller.
