Silver Fern netball captain Katrina Grant is looking forward to supporting Daffodil Day at Hastings next week as a raceday ambassador.
Grant, who will lunch with the winner of a Hawke's Bay promotion winner, said she was a racing fan and looked forward to attending the Gr.1 Tarzino Trophy (1400m) meeting and popular Cancer Society fundraiser.
"It will just be great to give back and make the day a little bit more enjoyable. Hopefully I can add a bit to it," she said.
"Everyone in New Zealand either knows somebody or has someone close who has been affected by cancer. It seems to unfortunately be part of everybody and anybody's life. To be able to support a cause like this is very special because cancer has certainly affected members of my family."
New Daffodil Day silks have been created and the New Zealand Racing Board will donate $1,000 per winner in the silks on Tarzino Trophy raceday.
