Jockey Michael Coleman will miss the first Group One meeting of the 2018-19 season after picking up a nine-day careless riding suspension for his ride on Francaletta in Saturday’s Gr.2 Lisa Chittick Foxbridge Plate (1200m) at Te Rapa.
The jockey shifted inwards near the 950m mark and caused Contessa Vanessa to clip heels and stumble. War Affair was also hampered as Contessa Vanessa dropped back through the field.
Coleman admitted a charge of careless riding and will be suspended from the close of racing on Wednesday until Thursday September 6, ruling him out of the Gr.1 Tarzino Trophy (1400m) at Hastings on September 1.
