Group One winning sprinter Music Magnate will return to racing action on Saturday in the Gr.2 Missile Stakes (1200m).

The Bjorn Baker-trained seven-year-old has won two trials in preparation for the first stakes race of the new season, where he will meet a stellar line-up.

“He has gone well in his trials and he is a good horse on his day, but it is a great race,” Baker said.

“It is really a Group One calibre race, so it is not going to be easy and he is going to have to be at his best first-up. He looks great and I couldn’t be happier with him.”

Baker said Music Magnate would likely be targeted at the Gr.3 Sydney Stakes (1200m) on the undercard on Everest day.

It’s the Everest consolation and its worth half a million,” he said.

A $45,000 purchase from Westbury Stud’s 2013 New Zealand Bloodstock Select Yearling Sale draft, Music Magnate has won A$1,166,625 in prizemoney.
