Mark down Brassy Boy as a stayer of the future.
That’s the opinion of trainer Fraser Auret after he produced the four-year-old son of Azamour for a debut win over 2100m at Hawera on Thursday.
“He’s a slow-maturing type who is still 12 months away,” Auret said. “With six months to strengthen, he could be a nice stayer.”
Brassy Boy was bred and is raced by Donald Wickham, who did some of the preparatory work on the gelding before sending him to the Auret stable.
