Savvy Dreams will miss the spring after suffering an injury at last Friday’s Hastings jump-outs.

The Group One-placed four-year-old Savabeel mare finished third to Saint Kitt over 1000m, but the effort took its toll.

“She’s broken down. It’s a bugger because the Livamol Classic was her main aim and she was coming up really well for it too,” Hastings trainer Guy Lowry said.

“She was going to run in the open mile at Hastings on the first day and we’d got the work into her and she was ready to go. But these things happen. You can’t dwell on it.”

Bred by Tony Rider, who shares the racing ownership with Grant Julian, Kelvyn Marshall, Roger Small, Wendy Spurdle and the Storming Home Syndicate, Savvy Dreams has won two of her 14 starts, placing in the New Zealand Oaks as well as four times finishing fourth at Group One level on both sides of the Tasman.
