Stakes performer Gentil Tonton is enjoying a change of scenery.

Formerly with John Bell, who has remained in the ownership, the Yeats seven-year-old is now under the care of John Blackadder at Rangiora.

“The main reason I got him is that I work my horses at the beach most of the time and with his older legs I can work him in straight lines,” he said.

The winner of last year’s Listed Taumarunui Gold Cup (2200m), Gentil Tonton will have his first start from his new quarters in Friday’s Farewell & Thank You Alan Shand Handicap (2100m) at the Phar Lap Raceway.

“He’s been doing everything right and while it’s not a strong field, he’ll probably need a run,” Blackadder said.
