Wet ground specialist Imblaze won for the third time from her last four appearances when she produced a gallant display to beat the Rating 75 sprinters at Matamata on Wednesday.
She was caught wide early before pressing on to the front and the Battle Paint five-year-old stuck on grimly under apprentice Tegan Newman in the straight to claim the Fiber Fresh 1400m.
“She’s done really well after having a month off,” trainer Janenne Daley said.
Imblaze was freshened after she had finished sixth at Tauranga.
“I don’t think she liked going that way (right-handed) around and the track was a bit too holding,” Dalley said.
