Rafi Firdhaus’ riding stint in New Zealand has ended under a cloud.

He was apprenticed to Riccarton trainer Andrew Carston and rode 28 winners over the last two seasons, but he has returned to his native Singapore.

Firdhaus is licensed by the Singapore Turf Club, who have suspended him indefinitely.

His suspension was not related to racing incidents in New Zealand, chief thoroughbred stipendiary steward John Oatham said, with authorities here asked to invoke the terms of the suspension.

It is understood Firdhaus has a disagreement with the Singapore Turf Club, Oatham said.
