New Zealand-bred galloper Mighty Quinn broke maiden ranks for talented trainer Matt Cumani on the synthetic track at Geelong on Monday under a well-judged ride from Jordan Childs.
Sporting the colours of OTI Racing, the three-year-old son of Redwood was successful over 2200m and has now won and placed on a further six occasions from 11 starts.
“He finally got the luck today, although it looked a bit dicey in running when they went quite quickly up ahead,” Cumani said.
“Jordan timed it beautifully and pulled him back a bit off the leader and got the job done. It’s great to see him get the maiden win out of the way.
“He will improve. He’s not top class, but hopefully we can get him to the city and build on that win today.”
