Premier jumps jockey Shelley Houston has retired from riding.
The 35-year-old, who has 111 wins to her name, will now concentrate on her Cambridge-based training operation.
“I’ve had ongoing issues with my shoulder, I’ve broken it three times and had three operations and bone grafts,” Houston said.
“I’m happy with my career. I’ve had a lot of fun and I’ve got no regrets, but my body is clearly saying it’s not capable anymore.”
Among her career highlights was her association with Climbing High and they combined to win two editions of both the Hawke’s Bay Steeplechase (4800m) and the Ken & Roger Browne Memorial Steeplechase (4000m) and the Waikato Steeplechase (4900m).
