Back In A Flash maintained the perfect start to her career with a dashing display at Awapuni.

The good-looking daughter of Ekraar went into the Rangitikei Tyre Centre 3YO (1200m) off the back of a debut win at Te Teko and she retained her unbeaten status on Saturday courtesy of a powerful late finishing run.

Back In A Flash got back in the running and was being pushed along to stay in touch 600m from home.

“She took a long time to get there, but she got it done in the end so it was a good effort,” said Gavin Opie, who trains with his father Keith. “She’s a lovely horse.

“She is a bit flighty, but if we don’t rush her she will get through the grades and I think she will be better on a dead track.”

Opie said they would look for another suitable race for Back In A Flash and then, hopefully, press on to The Naki Challenge (1400m), a $101,000 special conditions event at New Plymouth on August 25.

From the family of the Gr.1 Caulfield Cup (2400m) winner Lomondy, Back In A Flash was ridden by Rosie Myers and she admitted to concerns during the race.

“She’s still really green and I was in a bit of an impossible position on the turn, but once she got out she picked up very well,” she said.

Back In A Flash lengthened stride impressively in the closing 200m to blaze past Kotahi with Son Of Surf back in third. – NZ Racing Desk.
