Rudy Liefting experienced the highs and lows of racing at Te Aroha on Sunday.
The Pukekohe trainer produced Joey Jonz to win the first event, but tragedy struck two races later when the well-performed Danza Lad fractured a leg when he fell in the open hurdle and had to be put down.
Danza Lad won 10 races on the flat, including the Gr.3 Merial Mile (1600m), the Gr.3 Thompson Mile (1600m) and the Listed Rangitikei Gold Cup (1600m), and two over fences.
