Champion New Zealand apprentice Sam Weatherley has a good chance to make an instant impact in Sydney on Saturday when commencing a three-month stint with Chris Waller.
The 19-year-old, who has ridden 66 winners in New Zealand this season, can claim 2kg in the city and rides at 53kgs.
He has secured four strong rides, one for Waller, one for Kris Lees and two for Danny Williams.
The Avenger ($4.40 fav) looms as his best ride in the Hi Quality Turf 3YO Benchmark 80 Handicap (1400m).
He’ll also ride the in-form She Knows ($5) in the Turf Drain Australia Benchmark 81 Handicap (1000m), My Blue Jeans ($7.50) and Star Reflection ($10).
“I didn’t really expect to be on a few good chances on Saturday,” Weatherley said.
“I knew I was on The Avenger for Chris and I was thrilled about that but to pick up another three horses that all appear to have chances is great.
“It’s all caught me by surprise a bit.”
