Trainer Martyn Meade is confident that talented New Zealand-owned galloper Eminent can bounce back to his best in next week's Gr.1 Prince Of Wales's Stakes (2000m) at Royal Ascot, reports SKY Sports.

Owned by New Zealand Bloodstock principal Sir Peter Vela, Eminent showed abundant promise during his three-year-old season winning the Gr.3 Craven Stakes (1600m) at Newmarket and the Gr.2 Prix Guillaume d'Ornano (2000m) in France.

His class was also on display when he ran fourth in the Epsom Derby (2400m) and third in the Gr.1 Irish Champion Stakes (2000m).

The beautifully bred son of Frankel was therefore expected to make light work of his rivals when resuming in the Gr.2 Huxley Stakes (2000m) at Chester on May 11, but he failed to flatter after suffering a heart fibrillation and trailed the field home.

"He'll go for the Prince of Wales's, which unfortunately means taking Cracksman on, but there was little between them in the Derby," Meade said.

“Hopefully we'll see him at his best next week."
