Dale ticking over for Eye Liner

Trainer Peter Gelagotis said it has just been a matter of maintaining his sprinter Moss 'N' Dale (NZ) (Castledale), ahead of Saturday's Listed Eye Liner Stakes (1350m) at Ipswich.

A last-start Flemington winner on May 19, Gelagotis said he's just kept ticking over the five-year-old son of Castledale, who drew barrier four of 13 for his third-up run this preparation.

"I don't think he needs to improve," Gelagotis said.

"We've got to hold him there, because we're coming back 50m in distance.

"He doesn't have to be wound up any more, just keep him at that fitness level, have that nice fresh edge on him so he's nice and sharp when the whips get cracking.

"I think Ipswich is a tight-ish sort of track, so I'm really pleased with the barrier he's drawn, so he should get a lovely run and present well when the opportunity comes for him."

Moss 'N' Dale has won 11 of his 24 starts, earning $475,650 in the process.
