Promising filly Tutta La Classe opened her winning account with a comprehensive victory at Trentham on the weekend which now has her in line for a shot at the Listed Courtesy Ford Ryder Stakes (1200m) in late July.
The Allan Sharrock trainer Per Incanto two-year-old was sent out a hot favourite for Saturday’s 1000m dash after pushing talented stablemate London Express hard when runner-up at her most recent start.
That raceday experience told in the testing Trentham track conditions as rider Lisa Allpress drove the filly clear early in the run home before holding off all challenges in the closing stages to register her maiden victory.
“She’s still got a bit to learn as she ducked and dived a little in the run home, but I think her talent was pretty evident as she held them comfortably in the end,” said Sharrock.
“She pushed London Express close last time and it was probably only the 4kg allowance that London Express had with Wiremu Pinn riding her that was the difference that day.
“London Express then came out and won the Castletown Stakes so that puts in to perspective the ability this filly has.
“They are both high class individuals so we’re going to keep them apart for as long as we can.”
That decision will see Tutta La Classe head to Otaki for the season’s final stakes race while London Express enjoys some time in the paddock before chasing an early season three-year-old feature.
“We’ll give Tutta La Classe one more run before the Ryder Stakes which could be at either Te Rapa or Awapuni on the 7th of July,” said Sharrock.
“That will give her three weeks before Otaki which will be ideal for her.
“London Express is taking a quick break at present before we bring her back for the Listed race at Wanganui in early September.”
London Express will contest the Listed O’Leary Fillies Stakes (1200m) which is one of the feature events at Wanganui on 6 September. – NZ Racing Desk
