Top jumper Amanood Lad will open his winter campaign with a run on the flat at Trentham on Saturday.
The rising 14-year-old will be ridden by Michelle Northcott in the Fasttrack Insurance Amateur (2200m).
“We’d like to run him in the National later on if all goes well,” trainer Paul Nelson said.
Amanood Lad has won seven times over the big fences, including the Great Northern Steeplechase (6400m), the Wellington Steeplechase (5500m), a Pakuranga Hunt Cup (4900m) and two editions of the McGregor Grant Steeplechase (4150m).
