A colt bred on the same cross as a stallion bound for New Zealand service this year won the Gr.1 French Derby (2000m) overnight.
The Pascal Bary-trained three-year-old Study Of Man is a son of Deep Impact and a Storm Cat mare, the same cross as the Group One winner Satono Aladdin, who is to stand at Rich Hill Stud.
Raced by the Niarchos family, Study Of Man won the Chantilly classic at the expense of Patacoy, who is by Wootton Bassett. His son Almanzor won the 2016 French Derby and will be standing this year at Cambridge Stud.
