Alpha Centauri became the latest star and eighth Group-Grade One winner for her former Windsor Park shuttle sire Mastercraftsman when she claimed the Irish 1000 Guineas (1600m) at the Curragh on Sunday.
Hailing from an ironclad Niarchos family, Alpha Centauri is one of four winners from as many foals out of the Rahy mare Alpha Lupi, who also produced Listed winner Tenth Star, who was second to Daddy Long Legs in the 2011 Gr.2 Royal Lodge Stakes (1600m).
Alpha Centauri's grand-dam is the brilliant racemare East Of The Moon, who struck three times at the highest level including the Poule d'Essai des Pouliches (1600m), and who in turn is out of legendary racemare and broodmare Miesque.
