Champion trainer Chris Waller isn’t expecting fireworks from the New Zealand-bred Eagle Bay at Rosehill on Saturday, but he’s tipping him as a horse to follow.
“You’d think the 1350m might be a bit sharp for him, especially against the Australian sprinters, but he’s certainly one to watch out for,” he said.
“He’s won three out of four this preparation, his three wins have come on a big track at Trentham over a mile.”
A son of Faltaat, Eagle Bay was previously trained at Stratford by Aidan Schumacher and hasn’t raced since he won for the fourth time in his nine start career at Wellington in January.
