Savabeel filly Concert Hall carried her winning trial form over to race day on Wednesday when she made the perfect start to her career at Matamata.
The three-year-old produced a timely finish along the fence under jockey Shaun McKay to triumph in the Team Wealleans 1400m.
“It was a nice ride and he saved all the ground,” trainer Roger James said. “She’s a filly who is still learning and when he let the brakes off she was very good.
“She’s been handled patiently and, as long as she comes each run well, I don’t see any reason why we won’t push on with her.”
