Wanganui jockey Lisa Allpress has set Thursday week's Waipukurau meeting as the date for her comeback to race riding.
Allpress has been side-lined since last October when she suffered career-threatening shoulder injuries in a jump-out fall.
She received her doctor's clearance to resume riding earlier this week and has supplemented trackwork riding to her cycling and running fitness regime as she prepares for a return to racing.
“I'll probably just take three or four rides at Waipukurau for my first day, but I'm happy with where my fitness is at,” said Allpress, a two-time national jockey’s premiership winner.
“I'm feeling no pain in my shoulders at all from riding trackwork and I can't wait to get back out there on raceday.”
Allpress will take a limited book of rides at Waipukurau before riding at Riccarton two days later, with Wanganui and Awapuni's Manawatu Sires' Produce Stakes day booked in for the following week.
