Time looks like bringing out the best in the promising three-year-old Ozil.
He was spelled after running fourth in heavy going in the Listed Wanganui Guineas (1340m) and is working well ahead of a return.
“He won his first start at Wairoa, and there’s been a bit of form to come out of that race, but he’s a horse who was terribly light in condition and immature,” Awapuni trainer Mike Breslin said.
“He battled with the wet track at Wanganui as a spring three-year-old so we gave him a nice break.
He’s handling life better around the stable now, he’s talented and a beautifully-actioned horse.
“He’s had a jump-out and he might kick off at the Sires’ Produce Stakes meeting.”
