A trip to Australia is in the balance for the promising hurdler Monarch Chimes.
“Obviously, it’s up to the owners and something they’re having a good think about,” co-trainer Emma-Lee Browne said.
Monarch Chimes won his first three starts over fences before he finished fourth in the Great Northern Hurdles (4190m).
He recently resumed with a fourth placing over 1200m at Ellerslie and will run next on Auckland Cup day.
“It was a good run the other day and he picked up a cheque so it was better than going to the trials,” Browne said. “He’s going to run over 2100m next, it’s a big jump from 1200m, but he’s going well.”
