Mongolian Marshal might be a future classic contender, but it’s unlikely to be at home.
The Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman-trained son of High Chaparral, who broke his maiden over a mile at Avondale on Wednesday, isn’t in Gr.1 Vodafone New Zealand Derby (2400m) contention.
“That might come up a bit soon, but there are other Derbys,” Forsman said. “He’s always showed a lot and as he matures he can only get better.”
He also indicated the three-year-old is likely to wear blinkers next time out.
Mongolian Marshal completed a hat-trick for the stable at Avondale following earlier wins from Trudeau and Konstantina.
