Promising staying mare High Spirits has been turned out following her unplaced run at Ellerslie in the Nathan’s Memorial (2400m).
“She’s gone to the spelling paddock, it was perhaps one run too many but she pulled up fine,” trainer John Bary said. “Maybe the Wellington Cup flattened her.”
High Spirits finished fifth in the Group Three feature off the back of a similar placing in the Gr.3 Trentham Stakes (2100m) and a clear-cut win in the Chalmers Premier (3200m).
“She can stay and I think she will be even better next time around,” Bary said.
