Awapuni trainer Lisa Latta plans to make one of her rare bids on the Gr.2 Matamata Breeders Stakes (1200m) on Saturday week.
Latta is eyeing the fillies’ feature up with Platinum Mam’selle after her hard-fought second behind Bit Lippy in last Saturday’s Gr.3 Phoenix Park 2YO Classic (1200m) at New Plymouth.
“She’ll go to Matamata then, all going well, be back here for the Sires’ Produce Stakes,” Latta said.
“She’s a good filly.”
Platinum Mam’selle is one of four horses Latta has nominated for the Gr.1 Courtesy Ford Manawatu Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m) at Awapuni on March 31. Sir Nate, Secret Allure and Princess Amelie are also entered for the Awapuni feature.
Sir Nate, a winner of his first two starts, including the Listed Anuka Smoker Wellesley Stakes (1000m), charged home late for seventh in the Listed Karaka Million 2YO (1200m) at Ellerslie last start.
“The very wide draw (13) beat us,” Latta said. “He’s gone to the paddock for a couple of weeks.”
