When the man who has won more Australian Group Ones than any other New Zealand trainer says he has found a lovely colt then it pays to take notice.
Champion trainer Murray Baker made that statement shortly after outlaying $90,000 for Lot 727, by Makfi out of Encosta De Lago mare Bacio del Vinto, on the first day of the Book 2 catalogue at New Zealand Bloodstock’s National Yearling Sale.
“I thought he was a lovely colt when I first saw him parade and my opinion hasn’t changed since,” Baker said.
“He looks a nice staying type who has an international pedigree, so he was good buying.”
