Stakes start in balance

Fraser Auret is sweating on a black type start for his promising mare Darscape Princess.

The Marton trainer is keen to run the four-year-old in next Tuesday’s Listed Wairarapa Thoroughbred Breeders’ Stakes (1600m).

“It’s a bit dicey whether she makes the field with her rating,” Auret said. “Hopefully, she can sneak in, she’s very well.”

Darscape Princess has won three of her nine starts and is sitting on a hat-trick after consecutive successes at Otaki and at Trentham last month.
