Smart debut winner Slow Hands has a bright future over more ground, according to co-trainer Andrew Scott.
“He’s big and he’s raw and there’s a lot of improvement to come,” he said. “For a big horse he is fast and as a long-term stayer that’s important, they have to have speed.”
The Reliable Man three-year-old showed his pace at Matamata recently when he won under jockey Jason Waddell over 1200m.
“We’ve got no immediate plans,” Scott said. “Jason got off him and said it would be ideal to step him up to 1400m so we’ll look for a nice race for him somewhere.”
Westbury Stud will offer a sister (Lot 965) to Slow Hands at the Book 1 Sale at Karaka on February 1.
