Group One contenders Chambord and Heroic Valour stretched their legs between races at Matamata on Friday.
The JR & N Berkett Telegraph (1200m) hopes galloped 1000 metres in 58.8 with the closing 600m in 33.5.
“They were doing it nicely and both are really finding the line in their races,” said Opie Bosson, who was aboard Heroic Valour.
The pair are trained by Stephen Autridge and Jamie Richards who also gave Splurge a run over 1000m in 59.7, the last 600m in 34.6.
“That will tighten him nicely and after working next Tuesday he should be spot on,” Richards said ahead of Splurge’s tilt at the Gr.1 Harcourts Thorndon Mile (1600m).
