Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman had the Midas touch on Wednesday with a hat-full of winners across both North Island venues.

The champion Cambridge trainers enjoyed a four-timer at the Rotorua meeting and with a hat-trick at New Plymouth they celebrated their most successful day in terms of individual winners.

“I thought that if we didn’t get two or three winners then I would be disappointed, but we had a lot of luck and everything panned out,” Forsman said.

“It was just one of those days when it all went right. It’s been great.”

True Enough, Princess Sapphire, Mental Telepathy and Ladynadel comprised their winning Rotorua quartet with Desert Storm, Break My Stride and Mighty Power successful at New Plymouth.

“We came in to the day knowing we had some good chances, but in this game things have to go your way and they did,” Forsman said.

“They are good, progressive horses and they will all be good chances again in the next few weeks.”

Forsman said he had expected Desert Storm to be a royal chance in the opening event on the Taranaki card and the lightly-raced son of Zabeel duly obliged.

“He was one that we would have been pretty disappointed if he hadn’t won and it was good to see Break My Stride back in form.

“He’s a horse that still does a few things wrong and hopefully we’ve got him worked out now.”

Baker and Forsman prepared 107 winners to win last season’s premiership and have now advanced their current tally to 56. - NZ Racing Desk.
