Peter and Dawn Williams are weighing up their black type options with Caprikosa.
The Byerley Park trainers completed a rewarding weekend when she was successful in Rating 85 company at Ellerslie on Sunday, 24 hours after her stablemate Symphonic won at Te Rapa.
Both horses were ridden by Mark Du Plessis for owners Sarah Green and Ger Beemsterboer, who race under their Barneswood Farm banner.
Caprikosa, who has now won five of her 15 starts, will make her next appearance during the Auckland Christmas carnival.
“We’ll probably go to the Rich Hill Mile now,” Peter Williams said. “Either that or the Westbury Classic.”
The Alamosa mare finished fifth behind Thee Auld Floozie in the Gr.2 Westbury Classic (1400m) last season, her only previous experience at black type level.
“She’s done everything right and the form around her was good coming into this race,” Williams said.
“We’ve never pressured her, she can get a bit skittery. She’s really settled into being a racehorse now and I think there’s a nice race in her somewhere along the line.”
Meanwhile, Williams is hopeful of Symphonic making the final of the Dunstan Feeds Stayers’ Championship (2200m) at Ellerslie on New Year’s Day.
“We’ve been having trouble qualifying her as her preparation has been held up by the wet tracks,” he said.
“I want to give her a run over distance before the final and if I don’t run she won’t qualify, but we’re running out of time so it’s a bit of a no-win situation.”
