A Group One date with the older horses is the preferred option for Sensei during next month’s Wellington Cup carnival.
The colt has been nominated for the Gr.1 Grant Plumbing Levin Classic (1600m) on January 13, but trainers Michael and Matthew Pitman are keener to tackle the Gr.1 JR & N Berkett Telegraph (1200m) a week later if Sensei can gain a start.
The three-year-old has won three of his 10 starts and hasn’t raced since he finished fifth, after being forced over extra ground on the turn by a wayward runner, in the Gr.1 New Zealand 2000 Guineas (1600m).
